What the student did well:
- The student can, write a “narrative in which they can recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events.” 2.W.3
- The student was able to “recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.” 2.W.8
- The student was able to “write an informative/explanatory text in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points and provide a concluding statement or section.”
- The student used periods correctly
- Finally the student did a great job sounding out words in order to spell the bigger words that proved to be more difficult for them to spell
I would like to tell the student what they did well and what I really liked about the story. Then I would talk with the student about the ways the could add more emotion or feeling into their story like they did at the end of the story. I would also briefly remind the student that they need to make sure they are only capitalizing the letters after the periods and not randomly throughout the sentence. Overall, the student did really well with their writing compared to others in the second grade class.
