This student can meet pieces of the 5.W.2 standard by clearly introducing a topic (why he loves Chicago.) He can also develop the topic with facts (ex. "People in Chicago come rom different cultures which is one thing I like the most about it.") He can meet parts of the 5.L.1 standard by using verb tense to convey various times (ex. "The beaches are beautiful in the summer time.") He can also use standard conventions of English grammar (ex. "I have truely enjoyed living in Chicago, especially since I have my family and friends here.") He can also use standard conventions of English capitalization and punctuation as described in standard 5.L.2 as demonstrated throughout this sample.
