The student above can do these 5 things:
1. Student can describe the character in her story
2. Student can write a story based on her own opinion
3. Student can organize her writing so that is appropriate to the task and purpose
4. Student can produce simple, complete sentences
5. Student can use capitalization and punctuation correctly.
4th grade student #2:

4. Student describes character in the story "Tiny Teal Tiger"
5. Student can format a letter (Dear..Body..Closing)
I would take the student to the next phase by allowing them to use more descriptive words which will allow them to build their vocabulary and understand adjectives.
