Student can...
  • Use verbs to convey sense of past/present/future: "Trimari came" (1.L.1)
  • Uses conjunctions: "and" (1.L.1)
  • Use standard English capitalization when writing: "On this weekend" (2.L.2)
  • Use standard English punctuation and spelling: periods at end of every sentence: "pick", "sleep", "night" (2.L.2)
  • Use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure: "When he stop cry" "On night" "On this weekend" (2.W.3)

    Instructional extension:
    This student has a great command of when to use temporal indicators. In one instance, she used the correct past-tense form of an irregular verb. In future instruction, I would ask her to combine her temporal understanding with working on using past-tense correctly with other verbs.
